Classic Theatre, Reimagined
A2 Digital Prints
For this project, the aim was to take older plays and find a way to make them accessible and appealing to a contemporary audience. I chose Lysistrata by Aristophanes and Tamburlaine the Great by Christopher Marlowe. On noticing that both plays could be analysed though a political lens, I chose to draw inspiration from Propaganda and Russian Constructivism. Lysistrata originally a comedic play of women ending a war, became a protest poster and the great Conqueror Tamburlaine became a Communist style dictator.
